BEST programmer for 05 FX4

I'm sure it has been answered but I haven't really found the answer I am looking for. I currently have an 05 FX4 extended cab with a 2 inch leveling kit on the front end. I am running 285/60/18 's right now but I would like to put a bigger tire on.

My question is what is the best programmer? I currently have an EDGE EVOLUTION but I don't see the MPG increase I would like to see. Is there another one out there that will do better for a gas setting compared to what I have now or is the dyno my best option?

I also want to put an exhaust system on it. I want something loud without redoing the whole system. Maybe just put muffler(s) on and make it dual exhaust but not sure which muffler will give me the best rumble. ANY IDEAS?

thanks,
Joe

Idf you want to optimize perf gains, go with Custom tuning.

read the stickies at the top of the chips forum. ==> https://www.f150online.com/forums/ch...unes-read.html

and - this may also help: https://www.f150online.com/forums/4137986-post2.html

Post this in the exhausts & intake forum - it's not even remotely germane here.

thanks, yer welcome

Getting your evo upgraded to a Gryphon with custom tunes would be your first step in the right direction.....

Mileage increases on these bricks varies.....slim to none...

Thanks 88RACING. The Gryphon is a whole new unit isn't it?

No - just your unit, revised firmware. Different 'branding'. Same basic hardware.

cool, I'll look into it. I'll probably have to buy two different tunes because I plan on doing more to my truck like the exhaust tires and intake. Thanks MGD. that post you put up there is helping too!

Hey.

If you know which intake in advance, you could include that on the questionaire you fill out to order the tuning - that way it will be supported. But - only if you will be instslling said intake when the tunes arrive.

Tires - you can correct for yerself on the handheld.

Exhausts require no tuning corrections (unless it's a full-on system replacement form the engine on back - longtubes, etc).

Got ya, mine will just be like muffler back probably and I will probably put a K&N intake back in unless the actual cold air intakes that go down to the bumper do a hell of a lot better. Never met anyone who used one so I don't know really.

I recently drove 3 hours to the beach stock, and in transmission mode and didn't notice a "huge" difference on the high way compared to when I drive here in the country and this is my daily driver. I hate gas companies they are killing us!

The stock intake with a Gotts/DWV mod does just as well as any aftermarket intake.
