Best Chip for fuel efficiency

I am looking for a chip/programer/tuner for a 1999 F250 Superduty 5.4 V8 Gasoline 4x4 that would give me the best MPG. Horsepower doesnt really matter to me i am looking for something that would give me the best fuel efficiency because 9mpg is too low!!!The truck does have a lift on it

It's highly unlikly you will get that much. A tuner will not pay for itself in economy but sure makes driving a lot more fun.

A chip won't work, you have to have a handheld tuner. You need to read the stickies.

Control over your foot and proper maintenance will go a lot further than a programmer in trying to achieve better gas mileage.............

Programmers are a 50/50 crap shoot on getting better mileage.........

If the op has a 97-03 f250.
A multiposition flip chip would.
Tuners still offer this option along with a single program one also.
Handhelds/dash mount programmers offer more end user adjustments......
Just in case you want to switch tire sizes, gears, shift points/firmness, etc........

Looks like the OP has a 99 F-250 SD 5.4 if that makes a difference.

He can use a chip in a 99 but no it would not be any better than a tuner. Chip versus programmer is like paper versus plastic; they are both just containers for the tune.

a freind of mine has a 97 1500 z71 with the 5.7 vortech and he programmed it with the hypertech max energy programmer and he went from going a little more than 80 miles off 7 and a half gallons of gas to going about 120 miles. as long as he kept his foot out of it it helped on gas mileage alot. i kno thats its kinna out of left feild but i see everybody on here sayin programmers dont help gas mileage and i kno they do.
