I am wondering if the 1998 F150 has a chip in it, and if so, then where would it be located at?

There is no chip from the factory, but there is a open port in the side of the PCM where you can place an aftermarket chip (known as the j-port).

If there is a chip on the PCM, it is relatively visible as they usually stick out of the box a bit, although some do fit inside under the factory plastic oval shaped cover.
