What year truck do you have will determine if you can use the flip chip or not.
The only years they'll work in are 97-03 f150 and some prior years.

All three of the tuner links in my signature offer them.
(I think?)
You get what the tuner writes and burns on the chip for options with no end user adjustments.
They aren't bad but it makes it more tuner dependent.
That's what makes programmers a better buy.

Well I was planning on getting a custom tune done anyway, so I thought it would be nice to be able to switch btw tunes on the go. Wouldn't this be the same thing as getting a programmer and having someone write me a custome tune?

get a custom tuned programmer, unless it's getting done local. if it's mail order its gonna cause you grief. cause the first time you get it if there's something wrong with the tune then you gotta send it back to the tuner (which costs money to ship) and they send it back. save yourself the peace of mind and get a handheld programmer.

Yes+No.
The on the go switching is a nice feature of the multi bank chip.
But.......
If you ever want to change tire size, gearing, shift points, shift firmness, etc.........
Then a programmer is a better way to go.
