How about some specs on your truck, make, model, year, engine? It's rare that the lock would ever come into play in 1st gear on most ford trucks, so the converter should work like it should in 1st. Depending where the stock lock-ups occur, a tune can help keep it from locking too soon. If you've installed a cam to warrant a higher stall, your lock-up points may need to be moved upward. I've seen earlier model programming parameters that lock the converter as low as 1,600 rpm.

Stock converter stall is set at 2748 or 58 if I remember correctly. You shouldn't need a retune for 2800. Maybe if you had went to 3000. Also ask your local tuners if they even know what the stock stall is? If they don't know then I wouldn't really care what they said.

2800 sounds like it is right in the torque curve to me. I'd stick with Troyer. He is in such demand, there must be a reason for that.
