swapping ECU

Hi All,
I'm new here but it seems you guys have a GREAT site. I have a 1963 Unibody that I installed and self wired a 1996 5.0 w/ 4R70W trans. It uses the OBD2 and EEC-V. The only issue that I have with the trucks operation is that the speed limiter in the ECU cuts me off at @ 50 MPH. Can I get this disabled?
I have been looking at the Quarterhorse products and wouldn't mind getting one for future upgrades. However, My ECU code is YAZ3 and none of the tuning programs are set up for this one. Can I just swap in another ECU that IS supported?

Thanx, Tim

Welcome to the site! I can't help you with the problem, but hopefully, someone can. That is a great looking truck. Haven't seen a Uni in a long time.

anyway, I think a tune might be in order and cheaper than swapping ECM's

What are you using for a speed sensor?

Yes I am a member of Slick60s.

Thanx for the responses.

I would like to be able to get into my processor in the future, that is why I'm not just getting a tune. That is my dilemma --- the programs that are available do not support my ECU. there are several other 96 ECUs that are supported and was thinking.....change to one of those.

I installed my speed sensor in the tailshaft and have slowed it down as much as possible. I have got the speedo spot on with the sensor there. The factory one is a part of the ABS and is on the rear housing.
I am running a 96 T-Bird instrument cluster and it too uses this sensor.
