No idea when it comes to this?!

Just bought my 2007 F150 V6 5spd, installing a 2.5" leveling kit monday with 35"s going on as well. Been to told need to chip it so i dont lose all my power. Never looked into chips or programmers before and have no idea where to start. If anyone could give me some advice where to start and best bang for my buck as i dont have alot of money saved for anything big right now just adding as i get the money. Thank You

Hello & Welcome!

Sir , I humbly suggest you begin here: https://www.f150online.com/forums/4137986-post2.html

If you need more advice, just post up.

My opinion - best 'bang/buck' is going to be custom tuning from one of the folks mentioned in the above link.

Do keep in mind that the V6 is still going to be behind the curve with those tires. Re-gearing is something you may wish to consider as well - but I understand yer budget constriants. Even with tuning you are lookinga at a ~$400 investment.

Oh, BTW if a feller named Shotgunz shows up, you can take his advice to the bank. It may not even bounce . That '88Racing' dude though ... I dunno ... I mean, he advocates the use of... Seafoam Horrors! For this reason, among many others, a very large amount of sodium chloride needs to accompany any advice from him.

Good Luck, sir!

I've had several trucks with large tires over the years. A programmer will not restore the lost power when you go to 35"s. It will recalibrate your speedometer and allow the shift functions to work with the tire swap. If you can't afford a gear swap, which is the correct way to install tire of that size you might want to consider a more conservative tire size.

good luck on your issue and I hope you have a nice day

Here is a list of gear ratio's and the axle code. Look for the "Axle Code" on the sticker on the driver's door. Here's a list of the codes and their meanings:

19 = 3.55 open
H9 = 3.55 LSD
26 = 3.73 open
B6 = 3.73 LSD
27 = 3.31 open
18 = 3.08 open
25 = 4.10 open
B5 = 4.10 LSD

LSD is a limited slip differential.
