Unique Gryphon CS issue, need Hex Code
"Sir, I told you its illegal." (it went from against policy to against the law, wow)
(in my head) "Well obviously your to stupid to help me, I thought you had to know something about cars to work here, silly me."
(Actually said) "Well thank you, but I guess you cant help me."
Anyways do this, ofter your truck will display the CEL if the gas cap is not on all the way, unsecure it and see if the light comes on after driving around for a while (may take a couple times of restarting the vehicle too). If you can get it to throw the code, go there and let them read it. They will tell you to check your gas cap, but make sure you get the info you need too. Play dumb, it might get you further. Good luck.
Flashmaster, the 4-character code that's on the UPC label on the PCM is also called the "box" code, which is what you would want to match if you ever had to replace your PCM I think. My "box" code is "TEM7". It's my understanding that some tuners use that to write tunes, but they're not very "customized". Still, the box code may be of help to Bill.
The 7-character code is properly called a "Calibration code", because it says exactly what stock program you have stored in that "box". When you read it on the Gryphon or the CS, it looks something like: "RXCM5E4.HEX" (my code) and the ".HEX" is how it gets the name "hex code". And, what I posted earlier about the meaning of parts of it is probably not correct. But, it DOES identify the stock tune.
But please - I know you are practically foaming at the mouth to be able to use your CS, I would be too. Unfortunately, even if you knew the Calibration code, it wouldn't help you until Bill can rewrite some of the firmware in that unit. And, I know he's not doing anything like that right now with his office move going on.

So no one knows what to do about this! Mine got here today and has the same issue.
Well as I think about this and the other issues I had with just getting it ordered if I have to send it back they can keep it, Since if I am having this many issues and it isn't even on my truck I don't want to know what it will due to it.
Ok I figuered it out. Engine: 4.6 EFI-SOHC (W) that is what my vin comes up with. and if I put a W in the 8th place it comes up. Should I be concered with this or can I run it? it has the sam engine info.

If it recognizes your truck and boots normally, you have no issues at all.

You DON'T have the same issue! Flashmaster's truck is a 4.2L V6. Yours is a 4.6L V8 and SHOULD be supported by Edge's firmware. If you are having trouble getting it to recognize your truck, simply call Edge Tech Support.

Sorry - I haven't got a clue what you are talking about. YOU don't input the VIN, the CS or CTS reads the VIN from your PCM. It should do this during the boot process, after you have connected it and been instructed to turn your ignition key ON. Once the CS or CTS has booted, you can see your VIN on the Vehicle Info screen.

OK, that capability is completely new to me. Of course since the unit recognizes MY VIN, I don't get the opportunity to enter the VIN myself. There's nothing in the manual about doing this either. I'm sorry if it sounded like I was giving you the "idiot treatment". I simply did not understand what you were saying.
So, back to Flashmaster's problem - can YOU enter the VIN yourself?

i dont know if anybody knows how to fix the initial problem here. i think going to the dealer(which is what the initial post first stated he could do) is the easiest way to get the HEX off the truck. just my opinion
