Hypertech Help?
Im getting a Hypertech Power Programmer 3 (41035) tmrw for $50 and was wanting some help on it.
I sort of know a little bit about them but not so much. i want to tune it to where i get better mpg's but dont lose any power.
(i know its designed for hp but shouldnt it give me better mpg to?)
any help appreciated

Unfortunately most people with tuners will tell you to save your $50 for a 'real' tuner. In other words, there aren't a lot of HyperTech owners around here.
The exception is MGD (VX.X). He will tell you to save the $50 for

I would suggest you download the manual, study it carefully, and then ask specific questions. You will get better/more assistance.
You realize that hp requires gas, right? The only way to get both hp and save gas is to make sure your truck is operating at an optimal AFR for the given load. This generally means custom tunes and a well maintained truck.
A few other questions to help us help you. Have you properly maintained the truck? What's your current calculated MPG? How many miles? Any performance mods?

are hypertechs really that bad? lol i had no idea.
and yes everything is maintenenced (i might need to do splugs and O2 sensors)
and i get around 12 mpgs right now. 310 miles on 1 tank. (thouhgt that was fine for a
4x4

From what I've read, 12MPG isn't too bad.
I've never had a HyperTech - I just know they're not considered in the top tier like custom tuned Gryphon, SCT, and Diablo. A large part of the issue is they only have generic canned tunes that sacrifice performance (both hp and MPG) to fit a large range of calibrations; one size fits all and they are not optimized for your truck.
I've also seen several comments on the lack of technical support.
But don't take my word for it, search the forum for other user feedback.
