edge evo on 2000
Tranny temp was not available until the 04 models.
thats what i needed to know thanks i think i will just use a standard temp guage and tap it in somwhere.
but where? thats the question
i have to lines runnining into a air cooler and from there one of theme goes up to the radiator befor going back to the tranny i wounder wich one is best to read temp on

I have used an Edge Evo on a 2003 4.6.
Transmission temperature sensing is on the 2004 and later.
As far as the towing setting and towing, I can tell you that on a scale of 1 to 10, the stock PCM receives a 3, and the Edge towing settings receive an 8 with me. The only way to improve to a 10 would be to have Bill at PHP convert your evo to a Gryphon and write you a custom tow tune.
My towing routes take me from about 1000 feet in elevation to about 8000 feet elevation. I tow about 3000# total weight of trailer and contents. I could tell a difference in the towing setting immediately, as I had better low and mid range torque and acceleration, both loaded and unloaded. The best thing was not downshifting from overdrive when climbing grades while towing. The engine also seemed to be running slightly cooler when climbing grades while towing.
If I were you, I would get the Edge Evo, and use the tow tune. Even when I am not towing, I can feel the difference in low end torque and transmission shifting with the tow tune.
I hope this helps with your decision.

Transmission cooler lines:
On the 4R70W, the lower fitting is the 'outbound' line to the cooler, and the upper fitting is the 'inbound' line from the cooler. I am not real familiar with the 4R100, but I believe this positioning holds true to that transmission also (at least it did with the C4 and C6's of yesteryear).
As for where to put the temperature sensor, I would put it in the 'outbound' cooling line as near to the transmission as possible.
On auxillary transmission coolers, my belief is to put those in the 'outbound' line before the factory in the radiator cooler. If your vehicle came with the towing package, you may already have a good transmission cooler that the most I would do to is add an electric fan to with a manual switch, turning the fan on when doing backing exercises or going up grades.
One thing I can not stress enough in towing is to keep your transmission fluid temperature in the 165 to 180 degree range, especially with today's solenoid shifted transmissions. Too cold causes flow problems, and too hot causes fluid breakdown.
