Even with Roush’s tune in the PCM, and some firmness added after dyno sessions, this power level was just too much for the stock 4R75E transmission (note that the 4R75E shares many characteristics with the 4R70E used in earlier F-150s and 4R70W and 4R75W used in other Ford applications). Within 6,000 miles the clutches were slipping badly during the 2-3 upshift and 4-2 downshift under heavy throttle. It was bad enough that the entire cowl would shudder when the transmission was hot."
Yes, it's safe. It removes a lot of the builtin slippage that wears out the clutches quicker.

And, it fuels the engine slightly richer, to give more power and to keep things cooler under load. (More fuel in a gasser = cooler running.)

Hello Mr OP!
Not to worry - I don't know nothin' neither
.
Except that, the passage you quoted was referring to a Roush Supercharged truck tune - where the tranny is legitimately under much more stress given the potential power levels available at the input shaft.
Not any cause for concern on a stock truck.
Cheers
