Am I asking for problems ?
Am I asking for problems ?
I am currently running a Gryphon tuner on level II (87 Perf.). I am seriousley considering replacing an AF1 CAI and replacing it with a AEM Brute Force CAI. The tubes are the same size (3"). Just curious if this will create much of a problem ? TY
Then I would post the question on PHP's website.
I don't know enough about the AF1 CAI vs. the AEM Brute Force CAI (and the affect on the MAF readings), but I suspect you will need to get your tunes re-written.
His Excellency MGD may have better in-depth knowledge (it's highly likely actually).

Good evening sir!
I would recommend, as Sir Shotgunz wisely indicated, and who is, by the way doing a relentless job of being on my case, to consult with yer tuner wizard.
But - to give you a sense of what is going on here, have a look at this link: http://www.troyerperformance.com/cgi...alogno=2004CAI.
Now, Mike Troyer has tested just about every CAI known to man, 26 at last count, (but likely higher now) and the only two he has found to not require tuning correction - (under normal conditions, as in no pre-existing lean tendency in the stock strategy) - is the Airraid and the AF1 3". The 3.25" and the 3.5" variants both required correction.
Note that AEM is not on that list of two. AF1 and Airaid actually took the time to provide correct geometry at the MAF location to achieve this. Or it was by sheer blind luck, lol.
Eyeballing tubing sizes alone is simply not sufficient.
Unless you are having drone issues or some other problem (sadly they are out of bidness), the AF1 is going to outperform the AEM to a degree. You saw the Airraid's numbers - the AFI was even better. If it's filter replacement only, S&B still makes the actual filter - just fyi.
Long story short (too late, lol) - you are likley going to need a tuning correction to be sure.
Good luck sir!

Thank you very much for your input kind sir, actually the only reason I was contemplating this move was to get rid of the oiling of the filter, for me that is a royal PITA, otherwise I love the AF1. Is the S&B an oiled element and do you know the part # ??
TIA
Ahhh ... understood, sir.
Alas - I do not know the specific part number.
You have a couple options:
Look here for S&B specs & match to yer existing filter: http://www.sbfilters.com/Store/Round-w-Flange
Looking at Amsoil, Volant, or AEM websites - they all offer separate dry filters - again match dimensions to existing AF1 filter.
BTW ... here are a couple of excellent, relevant posts related to yer prior intake post you may find helps explain things very well:
