Unlock X3

I totaled my last truck with troyer custom tunes on it and somewhere in the fiasco i forgot to unlock my tuner. it has been months and I am not sure if i would be able to locate the truck. I need to order new tunes anyways so if i lose troyers tune so be it, but is there a way I can unlock it myself or does it have to be done by a dealer? I just want to put on the canned tunes until i get custom tunes done.

Thanks all

Nope, you have to send it to SCT to get them to unlock it. Last I heard it's around $150 to get it unlocked, plus shipping both ways.

My experience with my last Xcal2, and it should be the same with the Xcal3, is that you can unlock the programmer through SCT Live Load. The problem is that you will lose the stock program it downloaded into its memory. Remember, you only have a few times (6) to unlock it - then you have to send it in to be unlocked.

From SCT's website:
FOR THE FORD X3/SF3 3000/3015 AND THE GM SF3 3100:

* Power up the device by plugging in to either a vehicle's OBDII port or a computer's USB port. (usb cable not included)
* Once powered up, scroll all the way down to device info.
* Press Select on Device Info.
* Status will either be: Status: Locked or Status: Unlocked.

*This is the breakdown of what each one means:*
* Status: Locked - The vehicle is VIN locked, you need to either return the vehicle it is currently locked to back to stock, or you will need to call Tech Support and Get a Return Authorization and pay an Unlocking Fee.

* Status: Unlocked - Your tuner is not locked, go tune.

If he didn't return it to stock, it's going to be VIN locked.
