superchips programmer on 04 5.4

I'm new here and just ordered a superchips programmmer for my truck. I payed $360 for it shipped. Did I get hosed???? Also my truck is a 2wd supercrew and I already have a magna flow exhaust that is dumped, no tailpipes, and a black plastic K&N cold air kit on it. I noticed about a 3mpg gain with the cruise on 70 when I did the 2 previous mods at the same time. What kind of real world MPG and performance gains have you guys seen with the mods I listed above??? What about just from the programmer??? Also my buddie has a 4dr 07 dodge with the hemi. He has the K&N air kit on it and very loud flowmaster exhaust. How do you guys think our trucks will stack up in a 1/8th mile run???? For those wondering we don't run them on the streets. I'm way to old for that and grew out of burning my money paying for tickets a long time ago. Thanks in advance!!!

Yes. You could have done much better for the money. (E.g - Custom tuning)

Additionally - you may want consider removing that intake. CAI's and 04's without proper tuning can have issues.

Check out the tuning stickies.

Dodge will kick yer *** most likely. You get very little, if anything, from a CAI or an exhaust; a prooer custom tune will help, though.

Welcome.

PS - why is it folks buy, then ask if it's a sound purchase? Are you Canuckian?

Yeah I know. I've been into ATVs for a long time and am on several ATV forums. I should have known to check the forums before I did anything but just didn't think about it. So what problems have been caused by the intakes???

On the 04s and 05s, there is a pretty high rate of running lean with a CAI unless you have custom tunes. The factory programs ran in a near lean condition to start with and the extra air is too much. The canned programs are programmed for stock intakes.

Don't sweat it - was just razzin' ya

Some aftermarket intakes, on 04' and 05's were shown to aggravate a potential lean tendency in the factory tuning. CEL's may or may not be set, so you would not really know. This is well documented here - just do some searching (it's a great search engine).

The only safe remedy is to 1) stay stock, or 2) obtain a proper custom tune that will correct the condition.

EDIT - ha! I see the bear has decided to venture from his den

Well I just installed the 87 octain tune from my SC flashpaq and now my truck runs like hammered ***. I have had the K&N CAI and magnaflow exhaust on it for a while now and have never had any trouble. I didn't have any idea it may run to lean until I got on this forum. Now it pops out of the intake like it's starving for fuel. I've drag raced ATVs for a long time and I know a motor is usually pretty lean before it will do that. I've got a PM in to Scott from superchips asking for some help. If I can't come up with anything I'm tempted to just send the programmer back. I'm not saying it's superchips fault I'm just frustrated about the situation. This sucks!!!!!!!
