just got my edge and tried hooking it up but it does not read a hex code now what do i have to do to get the edge working i have tried unpluging the edge for 5 sec but that did nothing

 

Do you have the key on BEFORE you plug it in?

 

yes i had the key

 

What year is your truck, what engine and what is the model number of the Edge unit? How fresh is you battery, it requires a fully charged battery.

 

truck is 06 5.4 brand new battery edge is 15051

 

Ok, only thing left is to call Edge, I think. Sorry could not help.

There HAVE been faulty units that have this symptom. If the unit is at fault, Edge WILL replace it!

should i try to program even without the hex or will that cause more problems

 

NO! If the unit is not "booting" properly, it's possible you could get a disabled vehicle. DO NOT try to program it until you get a programmer that shows the HEX code.

thanks Jack thats what i was afraid of guess i have no choice but to call edge in the a.m.

 

Have you tried updating the unit with Fusion?

 

no i havent updated the unit was just thinking about doing that but thought i would talk to edge first

sirius, the HEX code isn't displayed on this particular Edge model. Go to Menu --> Diagnostics --> Tech Support--> Truck Info (It should be the second option down). If your HEX code is there, everything's just fine, and you can go ahead and program your truck. If there's no HEX code, there is a communication issue with the PCM -- give Edge a call.

(Okay, so the info actually came from the Mad Doctor, himself, but I typed it. LOL)

 

read the instruction manual it says the first thing to do is to update it with fusion. try that.
