Gryphon at last!!

I debated for a long time whether or not to get a programmer and if so which one. I finally narrowed it down to either the Edge or the Gryphon. Talked to some fellow members about it and decided to go with the Gryphon (thanks mblouir). With PHP's holiday sales, I was able to get it for roughly the same cost as the Edge. It came in last Friday and I got it installed, but I had 3/8 of a tank of 87 so I ran it on level 1. By late Saturday after going hunting in the morning and Christmas shopping in the evening I was finally on "E" and for once happy about it. Filled her up with some 93, drove a few miles to burn the 87 out the lines and set it on level 3. WOW, what a difference, the power curve is much smoother and more predictable. Throttle response is much better, and shifting is nice and firm (not so much that it kills the ride). Thus far I am very happy, may move toward some custom tunes in the future, but for now I am having fun with this.

Congrats on getting the gryphon!
If the canned tunes impress you just wait until you get custom tunes.

Would there be much benefit from getting custom tunes without having any other power adders (.ie exhaust, intake, etc)? I was thinking I would be better off to wait until I added items such as exhaust and intake then get custom tunes for it.

I think you're going to get a 50/50 answer on that one. I say wait until you have an intake lined up...then get the custom tunes. If you don't think you're ever going to get an intake...then send it now.

Yea I will hold off for a while. I have to at least get bored with the canned tunes first LOL.

Custom tunes would be a good option before or after mods.
But you can order a custom tune for a mod like a CAI wait till its done then install the tune and CAI at the same time as the custom tune.
Preplanning and researching are some of the keys between modding and custom tunes.
Cat back exhaust doesn't require a tune. Of course exhaust mods all depend how much and what you want to change. Use this forum's search tool it will save you some headaches down the road!

Yea I had thought about that too!! As far as the search tool it has already saved several headaches. Thanks for the feedback, but your right I should have searched before asking, but I figured while it came up in the thread go ahead and ask.

I did the intake mod myself with the drop in K&N and also switched out the stock muffler for a magnaflow. I ran the Edge for a while and was pleased but I finally decided to get it converted to a Gryphon and custom tunes. IMO the 87 performance tune I got is every bit as good or better than the 93 canned level 3 on the Edge.

Thanks, I have heard that from several other people. I really like the Magnaflow 16518, may go to that down the road. Not sure if I am going to get an intake or maybe do the gots mod. Custom tunes will be ordered, just not sure when. I know there is a relatively long turn around time b/c PHP stays so busy, so the sooner I can decide the better.

I had a feeling you'd like it. Wait until you add a few things and get custom tunes. It's so much better than stock, isn't it?

Oh and FYI--it took just about a month for me to get my Edge upgraded to a Gryphon. So when you order tunes it won't matter because you get to keep your unit and just upgrade it when the tunes are done. I had to drive stock.

Yes Sir - thanks again.

I think as far as adding stuff goes, the next two things in line are lights behind the grille and some km2's.
