What do you think about getting a 87 performance and an 87 towing custom tune? Chances are I'm not going to run 93 at all, don't think it's really necessary. Is it worth getting a custom tune for towing or not?

If you frequently tow a boat or a camper, then yes I think definitely worth the custom tune. In my case, I tow a utility trailer to the compost yard, 3 or 4 times a year. About 3 miles away. So I felt no need for it. It just depends on the number of times and how heavy. The canned towing tune is a very good tune for towing, the custom is just a little better.

What I tow:

I never tow anything so I'm not really worried about it. Doesn't sound like I really need to get 2 or 3 custom tunes. I only plan on running it on 87. I think I might just go with 1 custom tune, I can always send it back to get another one programmed.

OK - so I'm pretty sold then on doing a custom 87 performance tune - will certainly save on gas expense... I do two a 6x10 enclosed utility trailer several times year - often just around town but sometimes across country. Is there any reason I can't continue to run the performance tune? Do I need to change to tow?

either way I think I'd be OK with a 87 cust tune and just keep the stock and canned tow tunes.?

You should never tow on a performance tune. just keep the canned level 2 and you will be fine

After you get it sent in for the conversion upgrade to a gryphon you won't have to send it back in if you order another custom tune. You will just have to download it using your computer from pegasus which is PHP's connection software to their server.
