resetting the ecm or pcm

i have been reading but not alot...on how to reset the ecm or PCM...i have heard of disconnecting the batter and turning on the light switch...

should i disconnect both battery cables and in what order should i disconnect them for..and how long should i disconnect..i have read for about 30 minutes,,

how long should i turn the light switch on....for the entire time the batteries are disconnected

problem i had was..i turned the remote start today and my truck wasnt getting fuel..modulator problem..i got the modulator fixed and now she is having a hard time starting..i have tried the remote start bypass and the battery still needs a boost to start..so i am thinking of resetting the ecm or pcm to see if there is a difference..

If the battery needs a boost than there's no reason why reflashing the PCM would help the truck start. Anyways, just remove the negative battery terminal for 15 minutes and it should clear the KAM data. I doubt that is going to fix your problem. Sounds like it might be a problem with something draining the battery, possibly the remote start. Do you have any other electrical accessories? Do you drive the truck every day?

Disconnect Black Neg wire for about 5 minutes. You can turn the lights on if you want but there are enough resistances in the system to drain off any charge without doing that. The light bulb under the hood is enough to dissipate any charges in the system. Some people wait half an hour or more but they just have lots of time on their hands. Some people also touch the disconnected black wire to the red one to instantly drain the charges.
