Computer re-set?

Hi folks:
I haven't visited here in a very long time. I have a '97 F150 4.6 and would like to re-set the computer, by disconnecting one of the battery terminals. I can't remember which cable is to be disconnected and just need to know which one.
Thanks,
Mark

Works for all with a PCM, so yes, it does. Disconnenting for about 20 minutes while you do other things will work as well.

Please excuse my ignorance, but what does this mean? (If there's website that lists them, I'd be happy to review it rather than you type it 'all' in.)

Thanks!

In a post above, it was stated that you could disconnect the negative terminal, and turn the key to the crank position. That will work fine, but, if you are doing other stuff to the truck. Maybe changing the fuel filter, cleaning the engine, whatever, if you just disconnect the battery for 20 to 30 minutes, you achieve the same thing. Some will turn on the lights to drain the system quicker. You are taking all power from the computer(PCM). It will then go into the mode of relearning your driving habits.

You could also just go have a cup of coffee. You don't really have to work on the truck. You just need to give any capacitors time to lose the charge they have accumulated. 30 minutes should do it.
