problems

I am putting a 2004 F-150 (new body style) back together after a crash and am having a problem with the truck. I have a TRANS FAULT which won't allow the truck to go into gear and the motor will start but i am unable to rev it up. I hooked up an OBD II code reader and got nothing but an error. Is there another code reader i should be trying? or should this thing go to Ford for them to look at it? possible computer failure?

You will need a code reader that is CAN protocol compliant. Your OBDII scanner is not. Most part stores carry at least one model.

Do you have the bed on and the tail lights hooked up?

If both brake lights are out or disconnected truck won't go into gear.

Good catch, 88! That could easily be the problem.

Sorry I missed the rev up part of your post.
Here's some other items.
Fuse.
Brake pedal switch.
Wires going to brake pedal switch and selonoid actuator.
Selonoid actuator.

Accelerator pedal.
Pedal switch and or wires also.

Just some more suggestions.

Quite possible the pcm could have been damaged? It may be stuck in a fail safe mode due to no the no rev condition that you mentioned.

Accidents can due more damage than what a person can see sometimes.
