Which Scanner to Use???

Does anyone have a recommendation on a good scanner which will identify the cylinder which is misfiring? Does this require a PCM and Ford software??? I have a cheap OBDII scanner but it only has 2 buttons and won't give me anything but a PXXXX code. Sometimes the codes aren't specific enough.

THANKS!!

So does this give you real-time info? I have been in the truck with a ford mechanic and he had his laptop set up to see the performance of each cylinder. It was VERY easy to see where the problem was coming from. However, looking on eBay, the PCM and ford software is EXPENSIVE! Just trying to see if their are other alternatives.

A code scanner and the equipment & software to do what you're talking about are two completely different beasts.

So you think that VatoZone and a Code Reader is what the dealer uses?
