If you're not having problems, it's probably best to skip any updating. Updating the firmware might allow the programmer to recognize more hex codes. And, calibration updates sometimes handled things like transmission shudder. But, if you and the truck are happy, just drive.

I have been looking at the evolution:

http://www.edgeproducts.com/product....ion+Programmer

My best friend and I each have 2008 Screws and he was asking me if this device actually does help with fuel economy. Given that he is a "grandma" driver I suspect he would be a candidate to suck the best fuel economy out of the module's set up and capabilities.

But I wonder.....does anyone here have one and have the same targe (more miles / gal) rather than more HP? If so, what is your opinion on the actual return on investment of this device?

i.e., is it worth purcahsing if you want to save money ...say over 5 years?

According to the Edge manual you can input up to 3500mm (43 inch tire). I am running 35 inch tires and the Edge MPH is dead on with my GPS. My gas mileage has gone to crap but I need to regear. Running 3.55's.

Kevin, I have one, and I am going to say YES, it does help your mileage. However, it won’t make your F150 a hybrid, but it will make it more fuel efficient. Ask Blurjay, he can provide hard data. Well worth the $, IMHO.

On average I have noticed a 1mpg increase, but since using the display to show my mileage and keeping out of it a little bit I am at 16-17mpg in town. Much better than the 13-13.5 I was getting. Even for no MPG gain, the unit is well worth it to get the gauges, and shifting... the MPG and HP gain is what makes me really smile though. I got the gryphon instead of the edge, but if you don't need custom tunes (CAI and other motor mods) then it will suit you well.

I did not need the custom tunes but I think they are worth it just to be able to get the mucher higher performance on an 87 tune and for the vastly improved downshifting. I had to run 93 with level 3 on the canned Edge tunes, but Bill's 87 Perf tune has replaced that nicely and the difference in fuel cost easily pays for the tuner.
