Ok so I bought an Edge Evo 3 weeks ago and it has disabled the PCM in my truck leaving it inoperable 3 times already. Leaving me starnded without a truck.

Edge is able to reset the software to flash the truck back stock, but you have to call them and they have to do it remotely online.

Edge technical support is aware of a known problem with 97-03 model f-150's but have not been able to solve the problem..... It gives ERROR 150 call tech support.

I love the look and function of the Edge Evo when it works . PHP has also quit selling the Gryphon for 97-03 for related problems.

Is there another programmer out there that has the same look and funtionality?

I've never tried this one but it does the same thing. I beleive that you can get these custom tuned also. Maybe someone has tried these and can give you some more info.

Yes, the SCT X3 and the Scangauge will work on your truck - AND, PHP can give you custom tunes for the X3. But, hold on a bit. Edge is working on the problem, which seems to be in the cable and they might have a fix for you soon.
