1997 5.4 Programmers?

I am looking to purchase a gryphon for my 1997 f 150 supercab 5.4. But i have heard that a tuner doesnt do much on this year. I would like to know if I can expect some power gains using the gryphon on a 5.4 with a cat back exhaust and a cai?

Is it worth it?

Ive got a 97 myself, and i guess it depends what options your looking for out of the programmer. I just have the Edge myself, not the Gryphon, ( under the influence that the can-tunes are the same for both ) and the edge will not let me custom tune any parameters, at all. I can just select levels 1,2,3 and thats it, no changing tranny shift firmness, nothing.

but thats just my story, my trucks build date code reads 03/97

now heres the catch with my case,
My dad has the same year truck (build date 06/97) and i can custom tune all the parameters but tire size on his no problem.

hope that helped somewhat?

one of my friends has a lifted 97 on 35s with a custom tuned gryphon and the only complaint he had was that it cant fix his speedo because the 97s have an actual gear in the transmission that controls the speedo or something like that.

i could really tell a difference riding in his truck before and after tho
