I just got the gryphon yesterday and I love it. I have 1. 87 heavy towing (up to 7000 lbs), 2. 87 performance (regular driving) and 3. 93 performance (just for fun). If I was running the s&b w/o tunes I would just put it back to stock until I got the tunes, reason I wouldn't want to run the engine lean and cause engine damage, but that's just me. As for the mods. yes, every time you add goodies to your truck you are going to need to retune that vehicle which is going to run you about $30 each tune. Good luck.

Performance & economy are the same. Maybe you might want the 93 tow tune for optimal performance.

Well in that case the 87 tow will be fine, and no, towing level and performance level are both different.

The 87 towing is good you can always put higher octane and have better performance, what you don't want to do is if you are using 93 performance use a lower octane. 87 economic will make the truck not as responsive so its better 87 performance.
