Problems with Edge Evo!

Bought a used Edge Evo off another 07 F-150. I installed it and and said that it needed to be updated. So, it was updated, plugged it back in and it said that "splash.lcd" (Ibelieve) was not found, then after that screen it said that the external memory needed to be reflashed, and it wont clear from that screen or do anything else

I dont have any experience with these tuners and need to know what happened?! Please help!

I've never seen or heard of the error you're talking about. There's always a BIG risk buying a programmer that was used on another vehicle. How well do you know the guy you bought it from? If you take it back to him, does it work on his truck? Did he give you any assurance that it SHOULD work on your truck?

It sounds like there's no splash screen, which is no big deal, but it may not have been returned to Level 0 - which IS a big deal!

Bottom line, I guess: Make him show you the unit is good or make him take it back.

The part I dont understand is it functioned before the updates were done, but I could'nt change the programs because it said it needed an update. The problems occured after the update. I am pretty sure it is the right one for the truck, the numbers are right according to the website

Did you unplug it, turn the key on and then plug it in?

Wait, time out! You said it DIDN'T function when you installed it! You said it needed to be updated.

Now, you say it did function? I'm confused.

Maybe you should call Edge Technical Support. But, I still think you should go back to the guy you bought it from and have him show you how to make it work.

It should have been a simple Plug and Play operation if he reset the unit properly. You've got the same MY trucks!

Sorry, that was a bit confusing. It plugged in the first time and had no error messages or anything. the hex number showed up and it allowed me to change the parameters on the display and stuff but the only problem I had was that it said I needed to update in order to change to level 1,2 or 3. So, we did the updates and then these messages appeared. Now, it dosn't show the hex number and other stuff, just that splash cannont be found then says the external memory mus be reflashed. My only guess is tha the updates had somethin to do with it but I dont know. That is the only thing that changed before the messages showed up.

hopfully thats a little clearer sorry about the confusion

OK, maybe, your truck's PCM has had a later dealer reflash than the PCM on the truck it came from had.

Edge KNOWS about ALL the dealer reflashes on 2007 trucks. You should be able to contact them and they should be able to help you. Possibly, the unit was not returned to Level 0 when you tried to update the firmware? I really can't think of too many other causes for your symptoms.

The only problem is that all 2007 strategies should be on the update.

Solution:

Called tech support today. He claimed something probably just went hay-wire when the updates were being installed. I got the software put on my computer(used the software and computer of a friend who has and edge evo for his f150), it redid the updates (not sure why since the updates were already installed yesterday) and after that it works fine now. I was able to set it to level one and change my tire size and gear ratio and complete the custome tune. For whatever reason I guess the updates just did not work right the first time.

Thanks for the comments and advice everyone who chimed in!

I am too! I didn't get a chance to try it out tonight, so tomorrow and the next few days should be pretty fun!
