Level II Question

I have been reading where the Level II tune on the Gryphon pulls strong up to around 2000 rpms and then fades. My question is, does the Level II pull at least as strong as the stock tune after 2000 rpms?

It's been a long time since I used it, but yes, I think so.

Oh yeah. I love level 2. It is my favorite setting by far. The truck just seem so much more mean on it. I would not explain it as fading away but when the truck pulls away from a light or out in front of traffic, it does not back down until you lift.

level 2 was great around town on my truck, but did not have near the pull at higher rpms in each gear. Also, when running on the highway and downshifting to pass, it was much weaker than Level 3. But, its understandable, it's a tow tune. Creates more torque on the low end for pulling.

I cannot wait for my Gryphon! All this talking about the performance gains is driving me crazy. Monday cannot come soon enough.

Have fun! Just wait till you can fill up with premium and run Level 3. If you have 93 in your area, don't forget to bump the timing plus 1 as the tune is set for 91 octane.

I agree with Bluejay. My level II tune pull's hard off the line but fall's on it's face once it get's to around 3,000 rpm's. I usually run level 1 or level 3. Level 1 may only be a tranny tune but it feel's as though you gain power too cause the tranny is much more efficient.

For my '04 NBS 5.4 SuperCrew 4x4 level 2 with 87 octane makes the best all around performance. Level 3 is good but the power band is too high for my liking plus gas is 20 cents more, boo hoo I know. For my 3.55 gears level 2 was like night and day compared to stock and way better than level 3 for my driving style. This is with an Edge Evo by the way.

I got 11% better mileage out of Level 3 which more than paid the difference in cost of premium.

I'm running the level 3 on my 97 as well but didn't know about bumping the timing. Would it be the same for my 97 as your 05? I've also noticed a 1 to 1.5 mpg increase highway driving (when I can keep my foot out of it). Before putting the boat up in December was using level 2 and take off from dead stop getting on the 2 lane highway was a definate improvement over stock. Will try and pull the boat at level 3 and check results soon hopefully if the wind ever settles down below 30mph.

The bump in timing is needed if you run 93 octane. Level 3 is programmed for 91, so if you run 93, you increase the timing.

NO, No, No! Do not tow on Level 3, it's a performance tune. Level 2 is for towing. TYou can damage the transmission if you tow on level 3.

I'm running 93 in it now so I'll bump the timing and check that out. Ok I will tow only on level 2 I'm going to go back to running 87 before to long anyway but I just had seen your post regarding bumping the timing on level 3 and running 93 and had not seen that before but it makes good sense. Thanks.
