P1233 Fuel Pump Driver Module Off Line
 

Getting this code on my edge? Any suggestions before I end up stranded? It seems to be running fine.

the fuel pump driver module is above the spare tire on a crossmember. have seen a couple where the backside has rusted right out. in most cases tho it is a broken wire along the frame rail under the drivers door at the connector, usually white in color. good luck

The wiring loom appears to be in good condition. Didn't open it up to look for any wiring issues. Is the fuel pump module the big canister looking thing to the front and top of the spare tire? If so that appears to look fine also.

Any advice helps. It is an 04 fx4 supercrew.

Dropped the spare, appears the plastic is cracked and that the metal behind it is starting to crack also. Will be looking for one in the morning.... anyone have an idea how much these cost?

no thats the evap canister. the FPDM is small...a little bigger then a deck of cards. did you unplug the connectors on the frame rail and check for corroded contacts? if not do that also.

Yea I found it later.... it's cracked 3/4 the way through so I'm gonig to replace it before it completely goes... damn people have no idea what i'm talking about when i call looking for the part.

Same problem here.

Ended up getting stranded 3 times.... Took it to a shop and told me it was the fuel pump. 6 days later and a new pump still the same problem.

The mech looked around and found the module behind the spare. It was corroded to hell. Replaced that for 90 bucks.

They still charged me for the fuel pump.....

Yes, luckily I never got stranded, mine was cracked all the way around. Ended up having to drive a 2 1/2 hour round trip to get the part so I could get it back together before I had to go to work.

Mine went a couple of weeks ago, got it towed to a garage ,now waiting for the part to come in . On back order , apparently , it is a know problem of fords . Mechanic thinks it may have fryed half of the fuse block but won't know for sure until the driver is installed so he can get it running and do a complete diagnostic on it . Hoping there was no other damage . I would think if this is a known problem ,thereshould be a recall.

Yep ended up frying the fuse block inside the cab. Mechanic not 100% sure if the driver caused it or if moisture caused it to fry up strange that two things would happen at the same time, I suspect that the fuel pump driver shorted out the fuse panel since it was all corroded and the plastic covering was pretty much disinergrated. With towing ,parts, labour and taxes the bill was almost 1300 bucks

I had same code with no apparent problems. It took me about 20 minutes to replace. Ford part number 4L3Z9D370A and it cost $94.22. They ordered mine and I got it three days later.

This just happened to me too. A buddy at work showed me this thread. I had already replaced the pump, threw in a new filter, and no help. Gave up and took it to the dealership as I was out of time and patience...now I just need to steer them towards the module.

i am having the same problem...I just replaced the fuel pump 2 months ago...I am in Boston Mass on a Trip...10 hours from Home..and had my truck break down...she wouldnt Start....Took it to the dealership and they told me it was the Fuel Pump Module..or something like that...650+ for parts and Labour...
