Remote Start and Gryphon
Remote Start and Gryphon
I just got a CompuSTAR 1BAMR remote start installed today. (Pretty sweet 1 button remote.)
Just wondering if i can still get a Gryphon. It may be a stupid question but I have no clue where the remote start got hooked in to and where the Gryphon gets hooked into.
If more information is need just let me know and I will look tomorrow.

your gryphon should just plug into your OBDII port under the dash..... i havent seen one, but i hear that they are just a re-programmed EDGE, and that is where the EDGE plugs into. your remote start will have nothing to do with a programmer..... all they do is tap into your accessory, starting, and lighting circuits.
I'll add to what Matt said: A programmer (Gryphon, Edge, XCal, whatever), simply burns new information into a ROM in your PCM. Once that information is loaded, you can take the programmer off the truck and store it in your garage. However, the Gryphon and the Edge also function as monitors if left in the vehicle. They get engine information through the OBDII port and display it to you, so, if you want, you can monitor your Transmission Fluid Temp, your instantaneous MPG, your charging voltage, and many other parameters.
Matt was exactly right, there's no way that a programmer will interfere with your remote start (or anything else).
Mounting the programmer on the dash to use as a monitor is a simple, 5-minute, no tool operation that a first grader could do.
