Superchips checking in
if i bought the cortex tuner would it act funny since i have a dual exhaust? and what would happen if i did some other upgrades such as a cold air intake and headers? would the tuner still work as advertised?
Problems...need solutions
OF NOTE - I entered a trouble ticket on your website upon my return last Sunday, but have yet to get any reply...have also been trying to PM Ron on the forum but as of yet not getting any remedies.
(for the record truck is a 99 w/5.4 EEC was removed before flashpaq connected)
Issue #1 - Rotten Egg Smell with Performance Tune installed
Very bad Rotten Egg Smell from the exhaust upon arrival, put stock tune back on for trip home and the smell was gone (same tank of gas)
Lean Condition Caused This?
In working with Ron to upgrade the Superchip EEC to the Flashpaq I made it known I had an Airaid air filter system and exhaust...he told me it was not a problem.
Contacted brother of one of my employees (ford mechanic) He says probable damage concerns because of a very lean condition...was catalytic converter and spark plugs damaged as mechanic says?
How do we remedy?
Programmer is 1475464
Issue #2 - Transmission Shutter...
Transmission would stutter when letting off at speed, almost like a downshift or rapid converter unlock...I found on the internet a TSB 99124 that seemed to match for the most part the symptoms I was having...the mechanic said the PCM needs to be reprogrammed and it would cost $100
Not even sure the TSB has anything to do with the issue...but it matched for the most part the symptoms that occurred AFTER the performance tune was loaded.
This was the only topic Ron has responded to and he said problem is with the truck.
I have owned the truck since new the transmission had NEVER done this till the performance tune was installed...as stated I previously had one of your EEC chips installed without issue...this problem occurred with the upgrade to the FlashPaq unit and the performance tune.
How do we remedy this?
I am very frustrated as I stated put in a trouble ticket on Sunday and have heard nothing from anyone. I understand everyone is busy there because of the holidays but I really need these issues resolved.
I have sent another PM to Ron and am posting this with the hope that these issues can get resolved ASAP, as I am to leave on a trip tomorrow with the truck.
At this point at the very least I need/want my truck back to where it was before the performance tune was installed.
Please Please help me get these things resolved.
Thank You

Yes, we offer a trade up program for existing customers where you would receive a trade in value on your old unit towards the purchase of a new unit.

Hey Scott! I have a 2004 F150 Screw 5.4L. I also have a Superchips #1714. I recently had some work done, when I tried to use the tuner after and it gave me a message that said I needed to update and gave me a code. When I called there at first the guy said you could update the tuner for $50.00, then he asked for the code. When I gave him the code that the 1714 gave me he said that the 1714 couldn't be updated to work on my truck because Ford updated my on board computer and the 1714 didn't have enough memory to support. He then said that I could send my unit in for $150 towards a Flashpaq or Cortex. Does this sound right?
Dual Exhaust and shorty headers will work well with the product but you might run lean with a cold ar intake for the moment We are currently working on custom CAI tuning for the gas F series that will and hope to have those out here shortly.

Scott, ended up working with Ron back when I posted this, to upgrade my Superchips EEC to a Flashpaq...filled the truck with Premium and loaded the performance tune before New Years, towed the 2-place snowmobile trailer a 100 miles up to the cabin. During the trip had 2 issues:

Anything for CAI yet? Just sold my Edge and looking for something else. I got the Sanford Superchips shop 5 minutes from me so I would like to go the SC route but I have an AEM Brute Force intake.

X2 I have the K&N CAI and Magna Flow 1in2out exhaust. Havn't installed my SC yet but was wondering if ya'll had programs for CAI avaliable.
We need to button up the Powerstroke updates and then we can get the CAI files done from there. I haven't been given a solid date as of yet but will see what I can drum up.
Thanks for your patience!

Shift pressure
Got an 08 f150 supercrew on 37's. For those big of tires my truck absolutely flies with the performance setting. Def a good tuner in my opinion. Just curious though, I have never messed with the shift pressure. I would like to tighten it up as those big tires take a toll on transmission with my heavy foot. Which way do I tune the shiftness to make it firmer and shift quicker?
And its a cortex programmer I have

Mileage XS was not created for customers seeking performance gains from their V8 or diesel engines – it was created to improve fuel economy (FE) during high fuel prices in an economic recession. Countless customers have benefited from FE gains by using MXS SAVE technology. You must understand that we only provide the FE opportunity, it's up to your driving habits and how conservative you are willing to be over the period of a few tanks of fuel in order for the savings to materialize.
We apologize for the frustrations we have caused. We are trying to rectify these unmet promises ASAP. We do appreciate your business. We strive to deliver an outstanding customer experience - my participation in these forums is a prime example of our desire to improve. The delay in providing F-150 CAI tunes for your vehicle is based on technical and regulatory issues. Superchips has been working diligently with the California Air Resources Board to achieve 50-state legal status on all its product lines. This status is required to prevent penalties and fines from CARB & EPA. (Many Superchips competitor have received cease & desist letters for their products and practices.) This effort consumes significant resources.
Additionally, other significant new engine releases occurred since the CAI project was kicked off. Our engineers tackle CAI when they have the time and the vehicles, but it has been lower in the queue. As I have stated in my previous post, we are working on F-150 CAI and hope to have them by end of the first quarter provided that there are no unforeseen delays.

I have been reading that same line for the over 2 years that I have owned my Flashpaq. When is the company going to step up to the plate and actually deliver? I know I am not the only dissatisfied Flashpaq/SuperChips owner with the lack of follow through. There is a member on your (Flashpaq) forum named Dizzle that has been in the companies ears for a long time and has yet (last time I checked) to receive support. I like the product and think it is fine for a majority of people looking for minor gains and the ability to recalibrate their speedometers for larger/smaller tires and/or gear changes, but the lack of follow through is very frustrating. I followed a CAI support thread for a long time and after much persistence we got the answer of too bad, we are NOT going to update our product to support aftermarket CAI's and unless you are one of the few we made custom tunes for you are SOL.
Great customer service. Maybe the programmers and engineers should have put more time into working on what their customers are asking for instead of the waste of time/resources on that horrible MileageXS tune.
On a side note, does anyone want to buy a Flashpaq 1815?
