No EOT reading with Gryphon...
New Gryphon is great! While playing with the guages, I found my EOT number to be 0. It doens't change. There are no abnormal diagnostic codes. I've already emailed PHP but was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. My truck is a 2007 F150 Lariat SCrew 5.4L. Does the F150 pcm monitor EOT usually? Is it OK if mine doesn't read? Do I take it to the dealer, but then what do I say? I do all of my own routine service and never take it to the dealer. Any ideas or opinions would be appreciated. Thanks.
Seems like this issue has only been seen on the 4.6 or the 2007 5.4. I'll post my hex code. If other 2007 5.4 owners could also post their hex here, maybe we can see if there is a pattern so we can get a fix. Thanks.

I think what we are trying to determine is the "why". I can't see any reason for Ford to put sensors in some truck and not in others.

they used it for cold start up when the 3v first came out to lock the cam sprockets in place. however it was a redundant sensor.
If you have one touch start chances are you dont have an eot sensor in the pan. If you have acces to a ford shop manual look at a 04 5.4 and they have a sensor, 07 do not.
On a personal note i ran into that when i had to replace a pcm, the parts dept gave me the wrong pcm, the truck would start and run, but i had eot sensor fault codes all over the place and all of the sudden the truck went from not having one touch start to having one touch start. (or vise versa but at any rate it had no eot)
Its just like how a 98 f150 has and ect and a cht sensor yet a 03 5.4 only has a cht.
Like i said its pretty easy to tell, just look at your oil pan, either you have one or you dont.

That's what I was curious about. Whether or not they did away with the sensor on specific years. I was going to check with Ford on Monday and confirm it myself but you've confirmed what I was thinking and saved me the trouble.
Now I need to see if there's a way to further isolate and define if there are specific models or calibrations that are affected.
Thanks.

Like Bluejay's experience, the EOT in my 2005 works. I find it's interesting how quickly it rises if the engine has to run at high RPMs for a prolonged period, like pulling a trailer up a Colorado mountain and the RPMs are in the 3500-4000 range. It quickly rises to 240-250 degrees, even though the CHT stays around 212-214 under the same conditions.
