Gears or Tuner?

Hello all, I have 01 4x2 super crew with a 5.4 and 3:55 gears.
I have put a K&N filter and a RCD 6" lift with 305-70-16 tires on it.
I have recently purchased a toy hauler and am pulling around 7500lbs.
I have been thinking about adding a tuner, gears and free flow muffler. What should i go for first the 4:10 gears or the tuner?
I really need alittle more to be able to pull some hills here and there, the highway speeds have been great.

Thanks

Gears since the tires and lift really slow it down, not to mention you tow. Tuner will help with the trans. but will not yield the gains of the gears.

haha, I have been looking at a 02 F250 7.3
I just to hate to lose my Supercrew it has been a great truck.
I only tow about 2 -200 mile trips and about 6 -60 mile trips to the lake and trails a year.

Both since you'll need the tuner to adjust the speedometer for the change ....

Check out VMPTuning.com ... $395 for a Xcal2 with 3 custom tunes.

go for the tuner first, they help out a lot with the tow(i have a superchip on my 02 f150 screw 4x4 and i can tell a big difference hauling the tractor) and then you can always add the gears later and then you'll already have the tuner to fix your speed-o(which i bet is already off with those tires). but if your gonna be towing 7500 a lot better look into a 3/4 ton

Get your gears first, then get a custom tune. Better yet get both of them together.

I would say gears first. Doing both at the same time would benefit you the most. I would say to use the Gryphon tuner, as that is the one I will be trading my edge in for.

Did you guys miss what I said? If you get gears, without a tuner, your transmission is going to be so far out of whack it's not going to be funny. The tuner is a must have for the gears.

He already up his tire, so gears is actually going to be closer to stock than without.

That's true but it's still going to be messed up.

I would go tuner first than gears. The gears will work a whole lot better with the tunner.

I would go gears first. Gears will bring the final drive ratio closer to stock, since you have already increased the tire diameter. Don't get a tuner just to correct the speedometer. That would be a gigantic waste of money.

Gears will make a noticeable difference in performance. A tuner will make a measurable difference in performance. How much measuring equipment do you have?
