Dreaded drone?

I got the S&B matched up with My Gryphon and a fowmaster single 3" exhaust. And I love it!!!!!! However, I get the drone around 55 mph. Will that disappear with my custom tunes? Man I hope so.

More than likely. I was running the S&B CAI with the Edge and I got the horrible drone about 1700 RPMs. I ended up switching to a custom tuned Xcal2 and it went away. My guess is that it's going to be gone once Bill sends you his tunes.

Everything I've seen in this forum tells me Thumper's right. The custom tunes will fix the "drone".

I have the exact same drone at 1650 rpms to 1700 with my new recent installed S&B CAI. I am not really sure if the drone was there before I installed the Gryphon. I do know the intake was load but never took the truck to cruising speeds. The drone really kicks in while cruising on overpasses. I hope Bill's custom tunes can cut the drone noise in half at least. Can someone explain what actually makes this noise? If this wasn't an engine compartment, I would be dynomating this bee box.

Dynomat has hoodliners.

Drone is just the way the engine is handling air. A low frequency is more TQ and less HP. Why do you think F1 cars sound the way they do? They are small displacement high-revving engines that push out 900hp and only 300tq. And also your IMRCs are closed while cruising so that intensifies the drone until they open.

I wonder what causes the pre tune drone on the intakes maybe one of the tuners will chime in and explain this to us.
