Hey, Thumper... I am the OP, and unfortunately, I have already talked to Troyer about my new truck, so they are aware of my situation. I think they would have suggested a "cheaper re-write offer" as I think I have a pretty good relationship with Troyer just because of my past with them. I will still give a try to asking if they will rewrite when my truck is in hand and I can get the strategy. Thanks for your help, too.

BTW, if that sweet thing in your sig keeps looking at me when I'm looking at your posts, I'm going to have to give up trucks!

I don't have any idea so it'd be a good idea to run it by them before you spend money that you don't need to spend. I agree they should of mentioned it to you if that's how it works. But, I really doubt it because a lot of people would be getting "free" tunes.

Haha, I'm sorry. I actually need to update to a new Gator girl.

Thump,

I did talk to Troyer today, and they cannot rewrite my old tunes. I am a little set back that they are taking ten weeks now, and run an average of eight. By the time the new truck comes in (the end of the month) and I get the PCM code and strategy, my tunes will come in sometime in August. My towing season will be over by then. I guess it's Justin or Bill. I'd love the Gryphon display, but $495 is too steep for me with an Xcal2 sitting here in the box. Regardless, it;s a tough choice between Justin or Bill. Justin seems to have better economy with his performance tunes, and the $50 a tune is cheap to try out, too, compared to a whole new tuner. Either way, I'm still going to get the AF1 (3.5") and the MBRP Cool Duals.

Smoke

Well than I'd take the chance with Justin. Like you said it's only $50. Get one tune from him and if you like it, order the rest of your tunes. That's what I'd do in your shoes. Like you said it's going to be $500 vs $150 for 3 custom tunes.

New Tunes

In process of putting order in for custom tunes through TP but a bit overwelmed by datalogging procedures and the requirement to put truck on dyno or purchasing the A/F meter as well as the X3 tuner.
Planning on using the K&N filter and MBRP dual side exit mufflers as well .. was going to use the AFi 3 but now have the K&N ( don't ask long story) Truck is 2007 SC FX4 4x4 5.4L

Any advice???

Don't worry, Troyer will be able to make a tune that won't cause any harm to your vehicle. I wouldn't be worried.

Most people who datalog and put the truck on the dyno find that even through a mail order tune Troyer gets the A/F ratios dead on. He has done so much R&D on ALL of the individual aftermarket intake kits. No matter what kit you get, your truck will run much smoother and safer then even stock with his tunes.

My .02 - stick with a tuner/intake combo package.. Troyer does the AF1 or Airaid tuner combo, these other guys you mention may have similar default MAF settings for another intake they have dyno'd in.
