Pricing on Programmers? Available Discounts?
I have been browsing various sites, as well as this one on pricing of programmers. Whats the going rate on XCal's with tunes?
Also, am I reading it correctly when I see Gryphon is selling units at 495??!!!!!
Any insight on Group buys or discounts for these items? I'd really like to compliment my SCrew with a Gryphon, but thats a pile of cash that the XCal/Troyer setup could do for a fraction of that price. Wheres a good place to shop for these? Thanks.

VMP Tuning sells a Xcal2 for $395 which also includes three custom tunes. Troyers price is around the same, I believe. Troyers wait is just a lot longer.

$50 seems to be the "going" price for a custom tune. Bill Cohron at PHP is a really good guy! Call him and talk - he'll tell you what he can or can't do for you. There'll be no pressure.
I have a Gryphon and I love it!

Hmm.. well if you want to put it that way, then you're getting the X3 from VMPTuning for only $245 if each tune is $50(times 3), the total comes up to $395, which is still $100 cheaper than Gryphon.
lol.. not trying to start a x3 vs gryhpon war here.. just restating the obvious

I really like the Gryphon, both aesthetically and gains that have been stated. Just seems a bit much compared to other options on the market. I am by no means bashing his products, I just figured maybe that was MSRP and there was other ways to get ahold of this product at a cheaper price.
In all fairness, Power Hungry Performance is a brand new business and probably hasn't had enough customers to have a dissatisfied customer yet. So far, so good. Everybody seems to be happy with his work. Time will tell, if and when, he gets so many clients walking through the door and online that he develops a long waiting list also. Having more work than you can handle is a sign of success, right?
VMP & Troyer have both been around long enough to have dissatisfied customers. It's here on the public forums that people complain about long waits, calls that were not returned, e-mails that were not returned, et cetera. But not one complaint about bad tuning.
The one thing that is agreed upon is that the tunes are good. However, we have no real way of knowing if one tune is more effective than the next. Absolutely no controlled testing with verifiable results.
Can we at least see dyno sheets? That should be a sticky. We should have a thread for people to list their mods and post dyno results.

You also need to weight in the factor with the Gryphon you get gauges also! With the others you dont so you need to think to yourself its worth the extra money for them. I myself love the gauges and think its makes it worth the extra $$$. Its a nice touch to your trucks dash PLUS it gives you codes for trouble shooting the CEL.
Example my truck started acting up and I was able to run a test and came back with a P1285 code saying the CHT was bad or an issue with it. So no need to take it to a dealer or local shop if you get a check engine light. You can do it your self with the Gryphon. Theres other plus features to for the Gryphon having gauges but this is just the ones I can think of. But again it all depends on your funds and what YOU want.
Hope this helps!

Well if it was just that easy for everyone to go out and have a dyno tune. Of course its not or you would see them posted here all the time. This has been brought up many times. There have been a few from Troyers so you can try and do a search and see for yourself. I planned on going soon with my Edge and mods but my truck is broke down and will be for a few weeks. Its not easy finding a local dyno shop or within a reasonable time to drive also plus paying for each pull.
Most people buy from what they read and talking to differant shops. IF we would have a sticky with dyno results from all the above it wouldnt be any fun seeing the SAME QUESIION asked a million times a day which is the best to go with!!

But seriously I know what your saying. I still plan on having my truck done this summer it time/funds allow. It took me a few months to find a dyno shop in my area.
With all that being said, I'm guessing the 495 is what its going to cost. I had talked with PHP a few weeks ago about everything, but was short on cash, so I was unable to get it at the cheap price they were offering.
Thanks for the words on the Gryphon. I like the idea of having the custom mount on the dash, the display showing what is going on, and the ability to read codes.

I spoke with someone last week who seemed concerned that he would have to wait his turn for a custom calibration. He was under the impression that we have one just sitting around for his particular vehicle. And I thought to myself: "Self, does that make any sense?" I didn't answer myself because that would be a sign of craziness, but I was baffled. The whole idea of custom calibrations is that they're CUSTOM. Yes, Bill can take part of one calibration and use it to change another calibration, but each one is unique.
That being said, we have a list of about 80 customers waiting for custom tunes.
Even if Bill did nothing else but custom calibrations, it would take him a L-O-O-N-G time. Meanwhile, he's also doing contract work for a few different companies, doing live tuning for some customers, working on the Pegasus software, etc. Our customers have been wonderfully understanding of our circumstances. We couldn't ask for more!
So, yes, add us to the list of tuners who are asking their customers to wait "just a little longer." We're confident that you'll be thankful you did!
If you want guages get the gryphon from Bill. Alot better look/feel to it. I've only had the canned tunes for a few days but I'm enjoying them.
Glad to hear you guys are doing well and that business is picking up.
