Well ordered the Gryphon

Just got my rize and 37's put on, which didn't appear to be to sluggish since I did 4.88's at the same time. Well today was warm enough to use the AC and damn with the AC on it was throwing out an anchor. So decided even though funds are tight I better pick up a tuner.

Hopefully the canned tunes will help out a little until I can afford an intake and exhaust...then I'll get the Bill custom tunes

I thought all of the Gryphons came with Bill's custom tuning.

Just like with troyer and vmp they ship the tuner out to get you hooked up fast and then email you your custom tunes later to load them up.

I'm going to run the gryphon stock and sit on the voucher until I get my intake and exhaust, then use the voucher for the custom tunes.

Basically tunes are included in the price, just don't ship at the same time as the tuner.

Yeah, hopefully it gives a little help until the intake and exhaust come about. My speedo is currently off about 15% too, so that'll be nice to fix.

The 10% off the price will be nice too. After spending so much, its nice to "save" a little

Let us know what you think after you get it, and, after you get the "tunes"!

Gryphon showed up today. Just went for a short putt on level 2 and it makes a noticeable difference, the shifting definately seems better. Unfortunately I'm in the break in period on my gears (which are whining a bit) so I didn't want to get on it hard. Will have to wait a few hundred miles before I can really give it a go and see what it does

Just got some 91 octane and tried level 3. Gave it a full throttle run from a roll (I know bad for the new gears) but had to try it, I'm like a kid with a new toy. My truck gets up and moves now I can't wait to throw on an intake and exhaust and get a tune from Bill.

With the tunes that came with the gryphon my truck still downshifts on the hwy and won't upshift unless I get completely off the throttle, hopefully thats something Bill can fix for me when I go for the custom tunes.

He'll be able to fix it. But, I think if you adjust the WOT shift points, you could get it to do what you want also.

Right on, I'll have to read up and give that a shot, sounds like a parameter I can tweak and not break anything.

I won't be gettin a Bill tune until the AF1 intake comes out for the newer trucks with the 4.6 so it might be a while.

Cool!

And, as I recall from another thread somewhere, don't get the WOT shift points too close to the max RPM or you get "squirrely" WOT shifting. I seem to remember the shift points need to be 300-400 rpms below max. But, it sounds like you want it to shift up at lower rpms anyway, so I guess you would be adjusting those points down.

When you get your custom tunes, Bill will set the WOT shifting, among other things you have no control over, to get the best out of your torque/horsepower curves.

I know he dropped my WOT shifts down based on what he determined my needs were.

But, be gentle on your engine till it's broken in! You don't want to "break it up"! (And, I know it's hard not to "see what it can do, isn't it?)

I also ordered a Gryphon from Bill and Corey and I can't wait to get it. Even if it saves me 1-2 mpg it will pay for itself with gas prices at $1.32 per liter here in St. John's, Newfoundland.

If your right foot enjoys the new toy as much as mine does I wouldn't expect a jump in MPG right away. I know I've been driving with more throttle than usual just for the fun factor since I've put it in. I'm sure after the new wears off I will go back to conservative driving
