Arrow Edge/Intake Combination Issues?

Hey guys,

I hope I can find some help! Right now my truck is completely stock, but I was going to purchase a programmer and possibly an intake. After searching the forums i found that the combination of these two could cause the truck to run lean. Now I really like the looks and the options of the edge programmer, and also the S&B intake, but I've been reading that you may need a custom tune to run an intake with the edge. First, is this just a custom tune to the edge? Or is it to the PCM of the truck? I would like an intake, but I would like to steer clear of a custom tuned pcm, I had some serious problems with one on my last truck, so I'm not so sure about getting another one. I can see from reading this section that bill seems to be doing great things with the edge and is very helpful, so I was wondering how he tunes the edge, and if he sells them, etc? Also, will tuning the edge solve the lean issue? Or should I just steer clear of the intake and just get the edge?
Thanks again,

-Josh

The Edge's canned programs are designed for basically stock trucks. You can have an exhaust and a drop in K&N, but you do run the risk of running lean wirth a CAI. Bill's custom tunes are well worthe the cost and solve that problem. He can set up the tune to fit your specific needs. I paid $50 each for an 87 Performance tune and a 93 Performance tune. I like the 93 so much I have yet to even try the 87. BTW, I put 34,000 miles on the canned Edge tune without a problem, but I do not have a CAI. Most of those miles was on the canned level 3, with 93octane.

I had the Edge and S&B and got a horrible drone at 1800 rpm`s and ran lean. I ended up getting a Troyer tune that fixed everything. Bill can fix the lean condition and the drone. Tell you the truth I miss the Edge, for a canned tune it is exellent and I imagine a custom tune will be even better.

Josh,

Starting Monday, we will be offering our own version of the Evolution called the Gryphon. For all intents and purposes it is an Evolution, except for the case color which is all black. We are looking into some other color options as well, but that is down the road a bit.

If you are looking to buy an p[rogrammer and then get the custom tuning, we can offer you a sweet deal on a both that'll save you some money.

Give me a shout and I'll be more than happy to discuss the details.

Bill,

We will definately have to discuss the details on that, honestly I'd rather have a black edge because I have the black interior of the fx4.

Thanks again,

-Josh
