Do I need to return to stock before install

Wifey just called, the exhaust system has been delivered... I am going to get it installed over the weekend I hope.

I don't think I need to, but will I have to return my truck back to stock before the install. I have the Edge Evo on Lvl 2 right now... Thanks.

Don't see any need to, you can if it would make you feel better.

No need.... just unhook the battery like said before if you want it to "relearn" the new flow.. but you really shouldnt need to do anything

Unhooking the battery is not going to be needed for an exhaust swap.

Alright, thanks fellas...

Let me ask you this then. Would you recommend unhooking the battery because I have the EDGE on Lvl2 and I'm putting the new exhaust on? What I mean is, will it help it learn the new setup quicker if I disconnect the battery, or does it really matter?

The exhaust isn't going to make a difference in terms of affecting the programming.

Those Magnaflows will get a little louder after some miles.
Remember to put that X-Pipe as close to the last cat as you can!!

I'd like to hear otherwise!

Disconnecting the battery will force the ECM to go into relearn mode. The ECM will, of course, relarn what it needs to without forcing such a reset, but it just takes a little longer.

On a personal note... Just about any time I work on a vehicle, particularly *UNDER* a vehicle, I disconnect the battery. Just a habit from my mechanic days. The 1/8" deep groove around my ring finger where my wedding ring shorted across 12V to ground is a constant reminder of a moment of laziness and indiscretion. I can still hear my flesh sizzling beneath the red-hot ring as fat in my skin was dripping out. Sorry to be graphic, but I'd rather my example keep someone else from making the same mistake.

Bill

Dude, you have no idea! I actually had to use side-cutters and cut my ring off my hand because it melted into my skin and I couldn't get it off. Live and learn.
