I wouldn't say leave them alone, The mod motors(in trucks) don't make power after 5000 and my trucks torque dumped at 4500 on the dyno, but i have a bad "bog" in 2nd so I set my limit to 5600 and shift points are hit and miss. I had to set them around 5100 in 1st and 2nd because it revs to quickly for my Edge to keep up it won't shift until right a 5500. I found the best way to set mine was to drive down a small hill, This made the truck gain even faster so I could set the shift points right for just about any terrain.

That it may be, it is a fact. reman. 4R70W that is all stock, but Edge even reccommends that a ''squish" area be left between shift points and the rev limiter.

Edge says set limiter 150rpm at a minimum above WOT shift points. And 400 rpm is very short at WOT.

It was either Edge or Troyer that advised 400 at WOT about a year and a half ago. I think it was Troyer. I have always had the shift point set at either 5200 or 5250 for the first two, and 4800 for the 3-4 shift. Rev limiter has always been set at 5600 or 5650, correspondingly. You have to leave enough for the engine to flash up during a shift, but want to protect the engine, should the tranny crap out. I'v never had a problem.

Well where does it usually shift? I set my shift points to 5100 and limiter to 5600, and it shifts right at 5500 at WOT, the lag seems high to me but like I said my truck revs from 5100-5500 in a blink.

Most (if not all) of the Evo cals have Rev at 5600 and WOT shifts at 5000 or 5100. What you change it to from there is up to you.

As a general rule, I try not to go any less than 250 RPM between shift and rev limiter and usually at least 300 RPM on the 1-2.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Bill, mine was set to 5200 on the lvl 2 "generic" tune, and just fell on its face on the 1-2. Is it normal for the shifts to "lag" behind? Like mine are set to 5100 but it won't change until right at 5500. And what is the best way to get a hold of you about info on the custom tunes? Thanks.

The WOT RPM for the shifts is when the shift is commanded to start. It can take from 250ms to over 750ms for the shift to actually complete. The engine can rev a lot in 1/2 a second when in 1st gear. This is why it's necessary to have some headroom. Also, the smaller the tires, the greater the buffer.

PM or e-mail is the best way to get in touch with me.

Take care.

Bill
