Throttle delay

I have an 07 Supercrew and have been having problems with a delayed throttle response. It's most noticeable when I am merging onto the interstate. I approached the interstate from the on ramp. I am at approx 50 MPH with my foot off the accelerator pedal. As I get to the interstate I began pushing on the accelerator pedal and nothing happens. After approximately a second the truck downshifts and takes off. It's like a carbeurated engine with a faulty accelerator pump. I took it to the dealer yesterday and was told nothing could be done becuase it's an electronic delay. My question is, will a tuner (hypertech, superchips, Xcal3) resolve this problem?

Yes a tuner will fix that problem.

I believe the Xcal2s will work for the 2007 model year, but I'm not positive. If you're going to spend the money for a tuner, do it right. Get a custom tuned Xcal2 or Xcal3. I suggest checking out Justin at www.VMPTuning.com, he does great work and he'll get you your tune fast.

My 04 had major throttle lag until I got custom tuning. It made a huge noticeable difference

My personally choice is Troyer Performance for custom tuning. I base this recommendation on product reliability and customer service; both have been excellent IMO since the get go in 04

You don't need a custom tune. Evolution will eliminate the throttle lag.

Look at the cost of the Edge vs Custom Tuning. You may want to know more about both before making your decision.

The cost difference now is barely anything, it's dumb not to go the custom tune route IMO.

So how is it any different me preaching about VMP than you preaching about Troyer?

Edge is custom tunable as well. Plus you get cool gauges.

The thing that fixed my throttle response issue, prior to any tunes, was the 3" AF1 intake. Made a huge difference when merging or passing.

No programming needed for the 3" intake, though I've since installed TP's tunes and couldn't be any happier!!

I guarantee that if you order up the stage 1 (3.5" intake, exhuast, tunes) you'll be one happy camper.

The intake kit only takes a very few tools and is easy to install. The tunes are very simple to load once you read the directions. If you don't want to or can't install the cat-back yourself then just take it to a local shop to be installed.. probably like $50 or so to install the thing.
