major edge problem...?

i was wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem with there edge evolution chip eef2400. i just recieved my chip today, installed it, programmed my truck, customized the program and everything went absolutly perfect until.....i started my truck. i had the alerts on but forgot to adjust the spark alert so as soon as i started my truck the spark alert went off so i shut my truck off and disabled the alerts. i continued and started my truck again and about 2 seconds later my whole heads up display on my evolution shut off. i tried to turn my key off and back on and there was no response from the display so i unplugged my obd cord and reconnected it again, waited for the chip to turn back on, it came up displaying to turn the key on and wait, after about 10seconds the gauges on the display flashed for mabey half a second at most then the display went dead again. i tried the same thing again and got the same results. i then tried to connect the programmer to my computer to update but it will not allow since i have option 2 already installed on my truck. i am unable to return my truck to stock to allow the programmer to be updated neither am i allowed to update the programmer till my truck is returned to stock, what a delima. if anyone has run into this problem any help would be greatly appreciated to solve this problem. oh and the settings i installed are working great on the truck but i am unable to remove or change them. my truck is a 06 5.4l screw

Where are you located? Is it cold there? Does the Edge shut off completely or is the screen still show color, but no display? When it's too cold out here my Edge screen won't work until it warms up outside.

its a little cold out here (Canada) but all the installation and programming was done inside my heated shop. its just a lil to cold to play with that stuff outside anyways its not just the screen that goes dead the complete unit dies all lights go off, i contacted edge, they tried reprogramming using the new fusion software (which is actually a pretty nice program) and tried to force my truck into reinstalling back to stock which was met with a unable to comunicate with vechical error from the edge chip (error: d1) so edge is sending a complete warrenty replacement unit to me, will be here on monday...on and along with the edge dieing on me it sends out a sharp high pitch squeel anytime its plugged in and gets rather warm to touch so edge was saying its probably shorting. hmm if anyones wondering ill report back on the new unit to see if it fixes the problem for anyone who may run into the same problem in the future.

Yep, sounds like the CAN chip took a dump and killed the communications.

The Evo relies on the vehicle communications to determine whether to "go to sleep" or "wake up". If the communications is not functioning (as in this case it seems to be an Evo problem) theunit never sees any communications and never wakes up.

The new unit should take care of that.

Take care and good luck.

Glad to hear you got it cleared up. While Edge's tech support is difficult to get ahold of, once you get past that hurdle they are quite nice guys to work with and they try to be very accomodating when resolving problems.

Take care and enjoy.
