I just received my X3 from Troyer. I downloaded a canned tune on my 2005 5.4L 3V to get me by until my custom tunes arrive....Can't wiat....

My question is on the x3 it says something about 5 times and it's locked. can someone explain this a bit for me?

My father has a 1998 4.6L and his check engine light is on, can I use this to read his dtc codes without taking mine back to the stock tune? Would reading his codes count as one of the 5 settings it goes through.

Sure would like to help him out if I could ya know him being my DAD and all....lol

God, I hate the Xcal3 !!

 

Doesn't seem like anyone wants to answer this one? Maybe all you Xcal 3 owners must be real secretive.

 

I would call Troyer back or give the guys at SCT a call and see if they can help you out.

 

Mine says that everytime you turn it on. Just press enter and it bypasses it. I've reflashed my truck probably 10 times and it always says that.

 

I think that is the number of times you can input new tunes into the device not the vehicle itself and reading codes should not affect it either...

when in doubt call SCT

 

Where did you get your canned tune from? Got my Xcal about a week ago from Troyer, my wait has begun also. If I am wrong about this please correct me, but somewhere I read that the Xcal III can hold 5 vin #,s (as in 5 vehicles) then it will lock any more out. The way I understand it is that it reads your factory computer settings with the vin # so that you can return it to stock and you you can do this with up to 5 vehicles with the xcal Please correct me if I am wrong...About reading another vehicle dtc code I don't know if that would be considered another vehicle or not...as was said, would have to consult with Troyer or/and SCT on that one....just my .02
