Edge says it needs update
the other day when my wife started my truck the edge system turned on like normal but wouldnt go past the opening evolution screen. then when she turned the truck off it wouldnt go off the edge stayed lit up. At the time my wife didnt have time to mess with it so she left the truck and when she came back the next morning it was off. when she went to start the truck it started but it was really sluggish. I found out threw these forums that it was probably the battery so i had her replace it with an optima red top. It worked the edge poped up with the hex code and after she hit enter everything was good except the truck is now on level "0". she tried to put it on level 2 and set the settings for the tire size and gear ratio to fix the speedo but it says that it needs to be updated and if that doesnt work to contact tech support. If you were wondering why my wife is doing all this its because i am in Iraq in the Marines and i have no way to fix the problem myself. My question is with the truck on level "0" is that stock and is it okay to drive like that for now untill i return from Iraq and i am able to fix the problem.
Truck info -

never updated the edge before and bought it around July of 2006

This is not a good sign. There is no reason the pcm should not have saved the lvl 2 tune. The only way it would go back to lvl 0 is if someone programmed it back to stock. Have her hook it up the PC and run the lightning software. If it asks her to update dont do it. Or...Just tell her to leave it alone and you can F with it when you get home.
Some questions come to mind.
Does she have the "Lightning" software installed on her PC? If so, since the Edge says it's at Level 0, it could be updated (but that's assuming that Lightning still works - and, that Edge still supports Lightning).
I just tried to access the new Fusion software and documentation on the Edge website and got a "file could not not be found" error for both. Sounds like there's some new problems in the Edge camp - they'll probably get resolved in a little while. But, it might be a few days. Until then, I doubt there will be any chance to update the Edge.
The truck should be fine to drive at Level 0. It should act just like it came from the factory.
I'd simply unplug the Edge and drive the truck.
If and when Edge gets their software downloads working again, try to update it.
Once updated, remember to turn the ignition key to "on" BEFORE plugging in the Edge on the truck. If she gets the hex code and the option to reprogram, then, she should be good to go.
Stay safe brother - I've been in a similar place at a different time and have some idea what both of you are going through.
Bill - I know things are kind of rough for you now, but did I say anything here that was stupid?

I got that update the other day when I tried to program, but I had accidently left the car in drive. Maybe she is not all the way in park? It is probably a long shot as the key wont come out of the ignition if she is not all the way in park.
