New Tune Needed?
New Tune Needed?
Hey guys, I've got the Troyer Tunes (which I love
) but I'm getting some larger tires ~35" (stock was ~32") and possibly getting new gears, 4.56 (stock was 3.73). Do I need to get my tunes re-written?

I know for a fact that you can adjust your tunes yourself to the new gears. I just put 4.56's in my truck (had stock 3.55) and was able to adjust the settings in my Xcal II for the new gears. As for the tires I had my tunes written for my 35's, but I'm pretty sure you can also make adjustments for them without having to get your tunes rewritten.
Yes you can change those parameters within the Xcal2, very easily.
The gears will be the best mod you have done for yourself by far. I will say this on a side note, if you had went with a taller gear, you would have had to get a new tune. I believe the Xcal2 only goes up to 4.56 gears.

How do you like your 4.56's? Are they worth the price?

The guys are correct about the Xcal II stopping at 4.56, if you go with 4.88's you will be required to retune.
Thanks for the input guys. I think I'll stick with the 4.56 for ease of re-programming, and I do occasionally take some road trips with the truck so the 4.88s might be a little much.
As for gas mileage, I don't really care if I pick up any, I'm more concerned with performance increases.
