xcal3

alright. finally getting the xcal3 tuned by troyer for christmas. I went and looked at the website and seen that it is possible now to get the xcal3 canned tunes to play around with until i recieve the troyer tunes. I know troyer is very busy so I'll ask this here. For any of you who have bought the xcal3 or just know. When I order it will they ship it to me right away or wait until they finish the tunes and upload them. Pretty much do I have to do anything special to get them to send the canned tunes right away and then email the custom ones? so i can have a little fun when :santa: comes!!!!!

Yes you can do that. If you dont know your stratagy code he will have to send you the unit any way. You will be charged up front and email you the custom tune. I knew my stratagy code already so he shipped the xcal3 loaded with customs tunes.

I got mine from the Edge Unit. On the Edge its called the Hex code and it came on when you first connected the unit to the pcm. With the Xcal3 you just scroll to statagy.

mgp32: to find the code on your truck: (from troyer website)
"Simply open the hood and locate the PCM (Powertrain Conrtrol Module) - it is at the top of the firewall, just left of center. It looks like a shiny rectangular-shaped aluminum box, and has three (3) separate wiring harness connectors on teh front of it. You will find the code either right on the PCM or very close to it (usually just to the right side of the PCM on the firewall), on a sticker. The format will be 3 letters followed by 1 number, like BME8, or MSE6, etc. - there are many different PCM codes for 2004, but they will always be in that exact same format of 3 letters followed by 1 number."

alright I tried to get the ford dealer to tell me my pcm strategy but they said they didn't know how or if they could. Since I bought this truck used and the original owner had idle issues i suspect it may have been re-flashed somewhere down the line. thus i'd like to get my xcal3 sent to me right away. is there a way to do this online? or do i have to contact troyer?

Keep in mind that the stratagy code and pcm code are 2 different numbers.

PCM CODE= 4 DIGITS NUMBERS AND LETTERS
STRATAGY CODE= 7 DIGITS NUMBERS AND LETTERS

05supercrew: i guess I never really noticed the difference in the two. is the strategy more specific than the pcm. are there like a bunch of strategies for a certain pcm code?

does anyone know how to order xcal3 online from troyer without the pcm computer code?

You dont need any codes to get the xcal3. You just need them for a custom tune. Call Troyer direct he will answer all your questions. There is a bunch of stratagys for each pcm code. If you call Troyer today they are open t`ill 6pm ET and it will probably ship tomorrow. Im talking about the 04+ f150 I really dont know anything about the older style.

so I had a few questions wednesday. Emailed Troyer and got an e-mail back in 5 hours. Emailed another question and got an email in about 3 hours. Called at 5:30 and order xcal3. Got the sheets emailed to me before they closed at 6pm. Now I get some canned tunes to mess around with while i wait the 6-8weeks for my custom tunes. So far so good.

Talking to Troyer is the best bet. Glad it worked out.

i suppose i'll have to wait now. i dont know what you have got ordered but i got the xcal3 coming with preloaded tunes to play around with until i get the custom tunes. the way i see it now anyone would be nuts to get an edge. at nearly the same price, canned tunes to use until the custom ones come, and specifically made for your truck. Anyone have any experience with the canned xcal3 tunes? how do they compare with edge tunes??
