Very Strange Edge Problem

I have the EEF2100 for my 99 5.4. and now of late when i start the truck up after sitting for an extended period of time my edge will not turn on. if i disconnect it and reconnect it, it will come right on. but everytime that it comes on it will display my trucks HEX code and i have to hit enter before it will go away.

any idea or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

thanks

When was the last time you replaced your battery??? That would be my first guess. The Edge takes something like +12.0volts to startup I think...You cant quote me on that..

Its because its getting cold out, your battery volts drop a little. It happen to me a few times. And because you unplugged it and plugged it back in it is showing your hex code.

Mine did this over a year ago and I have no problems with the same battery. If you think you need a new battery go for it , it cant hurt.

True True, but the truck only needs about 6 volts to start and the Evolution will need around 9 volts to function. If the Evolution doesn't get enough then it will do wierd things. I would check the battery Also.

I would take it as a good warning that the battery was fading and change it out.
