i bought my xcal2 used, and then bought the tunes separate. total, i spent under $300 including all shipping tax etc. thats less then what most people want for their used edge...

Exactly, that was the point. You were able to buy it cheaply as it has little resale value, not worth the trouble of selling it for a lot of people.

Well , unless you have the same motor with similar mods.

I'm going to see if I can borrow Kevin24's Edge if he still has it. See if I can do anything with one on a 2 valve . He's one that had to get custom tunes from Troyer to get her to go, but yea, that's on the 2 valve. I think you guy are referring to the 3 valve for the most part. That may be different..

I don't have many mods. See what happens there..

Dang, that was fast , he wrote back already..

Well , scratch that , but here's what he said about it -

QUOTE from Kev :

Hey Jim, I ended up selling that edge before the TP tunes arrived. I wish i still had it or i would send to ya. I still think you should get Troyer tunes. These are a big diff over what the edge ever was. The pulling power from 3,000 to red line is awesome even with 35's.

Again , that's a 2 valve 5.4L..

There again is what I was saying to start with. It depends on what you want the programmer to do. The times I go from 3000 to redline are few and far between, maybe the only time I did was when I tested the Edge. What I want mine to do in respond like a scalded ape at about 2100 and go to maybe 4000. This is for passing on two lane highways, primarily. Or to respnd in heavy freeway traffic. If I want to go drag racing, I will get out my Mustang.

XCAL vs Edge

I have the XCAL 2, but will be swaping to the edge pretty soon. I will provide more feedback after the swap

Are you going from a custom tune to a canned tune or are you getting a custom tune loaded on an Edge?

The XCAL 2 was custom tuned, but I not not like the fact that I cannot change tire size, gear change, rev limiter, spark advance and other simple stuff without going back to the place where I purchased it. The custom tune that I have on it only has basic stuff on it like 35" tires, stiffer shifting, and a few other paremeters.

I will probably start with a basic tune first, after my 456 gears are done and then see where it needs to be adjusted for my comfort/feel/performance.

My guess would be that the exhaust was run to close to the spare.

Hard to blame that on the edge.

F150FXOnline,
I see that you are from Louisville, KY. I live in Carrollton. My question is how loud is your magnaflow exhaust? I cant make up my mind what I want. Is it a custom system or one of the magnaflow kits? I want power and sound. Slowmaster just doesn't deliver on both.
As far as the edge goes, I love mine. I have a basically stock truck. I have a slowmaster muffler welded in place of the stocker. I have a K&N Filter ordered. I saw a thread that a guy could roast his tires with a edge and a filter. I picked mine up on ebay used for $250.

What kind of K&N filter? Just the $50 drop in or a whole CAI system?

Drop in. I copied this from the forum. It is from show your custom edge tunes. I cant remember who posted it though. He was the first post there though.
• Plain Jane K&N drop in filter (AF1 is on order) (stab to floor and SMOKE the TIRES)
93 Octane Fuel
Edge Evo EEF-2400
Level 2 custom tune
+1.52 WOT Fuel
+2.0 timing advance (I've found more low end torque with 2 rather than 3)
speed limiter set at 200mph (I hate speed limiters)
shift firmness 1-2@+12, 2-3@+12, 3-4@+6
Shift Points: 1>2=5400, 2>3=5400 and 3>4=4700.
I've been averaging about 18.2 MPG with this tune and I'll be trying 89 octane (minus the timing advance) on my next fill up.
I have never put it on a dyno, but judging by the seat of my pants method, it really gets up and goes
