programming for larger tires

I'm new to this topic so I will apologize in advance if this is a repeat question. I searched and couldn't find it anywhere. Which tuner or programmer can I get that will program the speedometer for larger diameter tires? I see that Superchips sells a 'Tirepaq' tuner for this? Is this something the X Cal 3 can do also?

Hi.

ALL the flash tuners that are compatible with yer truck, and a couple of correction-only devices - (e.g Flaspaq = waste of money) can do this.

X3= Yes. And is currently my recommendation if you are in the market for a new tuner.

The Hypertech Max Energy can correct for tire sizes up to 54"

The Edge will allow you to correct tire size, giive you added HP and gauges to monitor about anything you wish.

Edge = Canned tuner
Xcal II/III or Livewire = Custom tunes.

The Edge & the Xcal II/III are roughly the same price so no way I'd buy a canned tuner for the same price I could get a custom tuner for. Also you can adjust the settings in the Xcal for new tires just like you can the Edge. You don't need to regear your truck if you put a tuner on there. I put new 4.56 gears on my truck recently because of my lift and tires and was able to switch the setting in my Xcal II. Very easy to do and took me about 2 min to do so.

depending on how big of tires you get, the dealership can reflash the PCM to a larger tire (within reason)

Usually, the dealer can only go up or down about an inch on tire size and can only change gears within the confines of those that are available options (basically 3.55 or 3.73) so you are a bit limited as to how far you can go.

Just so you know, you can get custom tuning for the Evolution as well as the SCT.

Hope this helps.

I thought I read in this forum that there is a member that can do custom tunes with the Evo...is that correct or did I dream it?

If that's the case, then I would think the Evo is better since you can install in on the dash. I don't think you can do that with the XCal3.
