Failsafe Mode w/Edge??

Okay, so now we've got a new problem that seems to warrant a new thread. Failsafe mode seems to pop up on a couple trucks after programming. Anyone experiencing this problem please let me know so I can get some more information and work on getting it fixed.

I will need:
HEX Code
Programmed Level
Any Custom Options used

Thanks. ;)

Below is what I sent to Edge in an attempt to solve the issue you are talking about. I don't know if I will be of much help because I run other tunes now and only use the edge as a guage. Evertime I contacted edge they just told me to update. I finally just gave up. Maybe this info will help you or others.

2006 ford 5.4 F-150 3500 miles TEJF3EZ.HEX Lot # 090688 S/N 4101 Ver E3 20 21. I have been running the edge since "mile #1" haven't had any issues till lately. I usually run level 3. Lately (past week) I have had the truck go into failsafe mode (twice)and wrench light on the dash with a p0061 error code. Once it came on shortly after I started the engine and took off the other time I had driven for approx 15 minutes and it came on in traffic. Both times I stopped, turned off the truck, waited a few minutes and then restarted where it would run fine and I would drive home. Both times after I came home I would reprogram back to stock and run it for a few days without incident. Any ideas what might be happening. I updated from ver e3-20-20 to e3-20-21 maybe a month ago (approx 750 miles). Right now i am running stock and a little gun shy of running level 3 until I have more answers. Thanks for your time.

I did the update and am running firmware 22 and calibration 24. In stock mode everything is fine. As soon as I try and run level three I get an error code of P061 (within 10 miles or so) and the truck goes into failsafe mode. Each time I pull over and shut the truck off, wait a few minutes and then start it up and go.Like I said, stock the truck is fine so I really don't think it is a vehicle problem but more an edge problem.

Okay, so if I understand everything correctly it was only occurring in Level 3, right? It appears that you may not have run Level 1 or 2 long enough for the problem to manifest itself so I won't rule those levels out either.

In any event, thanks for the information. I have one other vehicle that is having this problem and if I remember correctly it was the same code, too. This certainly helps.

Take care.

I ran level 3 almost all the time. I did verify that it would go failsafe while running level 1 & 2 also so levels didn't matter in my case. Another thing I did that I forgot to mention was I changed my splash screen and right after that my problems started. Might be coincidence might not.

Bill,
I am having the same problem. I have an '05 supercrew. Live in Arizona at around 200' above sea level. Happened the other day and just today again. The DTC showed a P061 and a P2106. The hex code is RXCM3E8. I am running Level 3 with the following:
WOT Shift: 1-2 5300
2-3 5300
3-4 4600
Shift Firm: 6,6,4
Rev. 5300
Speed: 110
Gear Ratio: 3.55
WOT Fuel: 1.5
Tires: 35" Toyos, set at 2660 to match gps.
Also have an Airaid CAI w/ a TB spacer.
Updated two weeks ago to firmware 22 and calibration beta 28? can't remember exact calibration.

Thanks for the help in advance.

From a dead stop, I start to take off and wrench light comes on.

Good information, guys! Thanks. I'm leaving for Missouri for Thanksgiving tomorrow night but as soon as I get back on Monday I'll take a look at those and see if we can get those issues remedied.

Happy holidays.

Failsafe issue

Bill,
Looks like you've been busy on other posts since you gotten back from holiday vacation. Just curious if you have had a chance to look into this P061 issue. Also would like to know how to get a hold of you for some custome tunes?

If you get a chance, give me a shout. I'd like to send you a test file that should clear up the problem. I'll make it worth you while. :D

Hey Bill,

I had it happen to me running level 2. Mine only did it after i tried out the preloaded tunes on the Xcal3 i got. These tunes , well one of them made my truck put a code out and i flashed it back to stock after this happened.
When i was leaving from work i flashed it back to level 2 with my edge before driving home. I drove for about 2 -4 km and stopped at a light. When the light turned green i put my foot on the gas and wham. failsafe mode code 2106. I put it back to stock and drove home with no problems.
After a day or so i re-flashed it back to level 2 and i have had no problems with it since then? The truck is running real nice.

I have a 2004 F150 5.4 3v Strategy code RXAQ3B4 and the only customs im using is the tire size 2559mm and a 3" Air force one CAI.

Thanks Bill.

Bill,

A couple of weeks ago you sent me the test file to remediate the P061 and the P2106. Everything has worked great from A-Z since then. But today, coming back from town the engine light comes on and the DTC reads P175-system too rich(Bank 2). Any advice on this? Let me know when a good time to give you a call would be so that I may fill you in with all the details.

Thank you in advance.

Mike

Mike,

I'm glad that the bulk of the problems have been resolved. Obviously, I am curious about the DTC and am sure it is something simple. You can give me a call anytime this week.

Thanks again. Take care.

Just got the P061 code after setting the tire size, gear size, and idle on level 2. I've run level 2 and level 3 with no problems for quite a while now. The code and the engine stall + CEL just started after I made the changes above. Put it back to stock and its fine.

Did this one get figured out?

I had a P061 the other day while going from level 2 to level 1. My truck stalled and felt like it was on a washboard road. I turned around and reloaded the tune drove 20 miles home and it was fine....wierd though.
