Edge Evo cable help...
Edge Evo cable help...
i need a new cable, the one that connects the module to the OBDII connector in the truck. i got in too much of a hurry removing it from my 4x2 prior to trading it in and snapped off the release tab where it plugs into the back of the module. as a temp fix i have tied some string around the cable and wrapped it around the face of the module several times and this works...most of the time. this was totally my fault and i have looked all around for a new cable with no luck. havent had ANY luck contacting Edge via telephone concerning another (unrelated) issue.
also, am i the only one having fitment issues with the pod?? if i can get the left rear portion to wedge into the slot on the dash the right front part of the pod wants to pop up. it did this on BOTH my trucks. i can get it to seat fairly well with the drivers door open but when i close the door it tends to dislodge the pod. yes, i have tried the double stick tape along the front and rear edge of the pod with no help.

Do you really need a new cable?
My locking tab is also broken off and the cable seems to stay plugged into the Edge without any problems. I just make sure there's a bit of slack in the cable so that there's no strain on the connection. You should be able to get this effect using wire ties on it under the instrument panel.
My pod doesn't fit precisely, but I don't seem to have the problems you describe. When it is flush across the front (facing me), the outboard rear corner (at the top of the dash) is about 1/16" high. So far, using foam double stick tape at the front and the back, everything stays where it should.
If your pod is really badly warped, and you can't get a better one from Edge, you might try to straighten it using heat. I'd try putting it in the sun (probably a bad time of the year for this unless you live in Arizona) with weight on it to "twist" it in the opposite direction. I'd start by twisting opposite the same amount it's currently "off" on your dash. Leave it out in the sun to soak up the heat and take on this new shape. You might try to keep it twisted this way after you get it out of the sun as it cools. If it's like most plastics, it should hold a new shape that's about halfway between what you have now and what you twisted it to.
If you have no sun, you could try an oven, but I'd be really careful here. Use the lowest setting possible and keep a very close eye on it - you could melt it this way!
I've used the "sun" technique to straighten vinyl records in the past (between sheets of glass) and it works very well.
Sorry for the long post and good luck!

heat may work to reform the pod...just wondering WHY it doesnt fit in the first place(?!?!) and was fishing to see if I was the only one with this issue. i may try an even thicker double-sided tape to keep it in place...
